MA boys lose to Houlton
September 6 - The MA boys' soccer team hosted Houlton this afternoon at the MA soccer field. Houlton won the game 2-0. For a photo slideshow, CLICK HERE.
The Lady Lynx soccer team will play Houlton at MA tomorrow afternoon at 4. The boys' next home game will be Tuesday, September 13 against John Bapst.
MA golf team remains undefeated!
September 19 - MA golf beat Presque Isle tonight 156 to 182 and PVHS 156 to 232. Logan Thompson was the Medalist with a 1 over 37. MA's record is now 15-0!
Preseason win for MA, 54-12!
August 26 - The MA Lynx met the Hermom Hawks tonight at Dale Curry Field for a preseason football game. We were there with our cameras to capture a little of the action for you. More than $20,000 raised at 10th annual PVH golf tourney
August 23 - Nearly 60 golfers from as far away as Indiana participated in the 10th Annual Penobscot Valley Hospital Golf Tournament on August 19 at JaTo Highlands in Lincoln. The event brought in over $20,000 from sponsors and players, and after expenses, a net value of nearly $15,000 will go toward the purchase of new equipment that will enhance the patient experience and improve safety for patients and staff at PVH.
Major sponsors included Alliance Imaging, Brookfield Renewable Energy Group, and Nurse Anesthesia of Maine at the $1,500 gold sponsorship level and Dead River Company, Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, Kelly Remmel & Zimmerman, Quorum Health Resources, and Spectrum Medical Group at the $1,000 silver sponsorship level.
Winning teams of the four person scramble were:
· 1st Gross (56) – Select Designs
· 2nd Gross (59) – Team Thibodeau
· 3rd Gross (63) – Daigle Oil Company
While there were no hole-in-one winners for the ATV, players were awarded prizes for:
· Closest to the Pin – Mike Norris of Select Designs with a distance of 7’11”
· Longest Drive – AJ Harris of Team Thibodeau and Melissa Page of Dead River Company
· Putting Contest – Dave Wright of Dysart’s Service (sponsored by Barresi Benefits Group, Comprehensive Pharmacy Services, Dahl-Chase Pathology Associates, Health Access Network and Snowman Printing)
During the awards dinner and barbeque, over twenty raffle prizes were handed out to the winners by the Auxiliary. The hospital would like to thank all sponsors and players who made this year’s tournament a success, and especially the 20 volunteers who helped organize the event.

Inaugural Beach to Beacon High School Mile
Tia Tardy, formerly of Lincoln Maine, won the inaugural Beach to Beacon High School Mile race on Friday 08/05/16. Lauren Morrison of Lincoln also competed in the event. Beach to Beacon founder and Olympian Joan Benoit Samuelson invited the top high school milers in Maine to compete in this elite race. Lauren and Tia had an opportunity to meet Joan Benoit Samuelson, Jordan Hasay and other world class runners.
Mattanawcook Academy Fall Sports News and Notes
There are opportunities for students in grades nine through twelve to participate in fall sports at Mattanawcook Academy. Students interested in participating in a fall sport will need to stop by the office to sign up and receive the appropriate forms. All paperwork must be returned to the office before the August 15th start date. The office will be open daily from 8:00am – 3:00pm beginning August 8th. Please take note of the following dates:
On Thursday, August 11, 2016 there will be a mandatory fall meeting held in the Mattanawcook Academy Gymnasium for the parents of all athletes participating in fall sports. The 5:30 to 6:30 meeting will be an opportunity for parents to meet coaches and outline expectations for the upcoming season. Student athletes are not required to attend!
On Monday, August 15, 2016- Preseason sports begin, all athletes that have returned all paperwork will meet in the MA gymnasium at 8:00 am for a meeting to discuss expectations for the upcoming season. Please take note of Monday, August 15th preseason practice times:
